Happy Holidays from dogin’

How many board games will they ruin in the hope of being joined by the whole family to play catch ball, which is way better than UNO right?
Oh, and let me tell you a full house of kids, family and the constant smell of forbidden food is going to be EXCITING.
Before we wish you a merry Christmas here are a few tips on how to make these holidays less stressful for your pooch:
1. Don’t make it all about them
If your children, grandchildren, brothers or sisters are coming over and are not privileged with a furry friend of their own it is guaranteed a lot of the attention will be on them. Make sure to warn guests of the rules your pup is used to following and no spoiling with too much attention as they will make the most of it! The holidays are only a few days, your pup will get used to it and when everyone leaves … then what?
2. No food from the table
We all know what happens when your sassy auntie comes over and has a few drinks.. she starts spoiling the little cute pup waiting anxiously under the table.. what else! Let’s remind our guests that not only their table manners are a must but also our pet’s. Your strict 5 year dog routine could be gone withing one festive night of treats from your auntie under the table and before you know it your pup will be barking at you all night long every night at dinner time.
3. Don’t forget about walks
It’s warm inside, we are constantly eating or drinking and everyone is recovering. However there are a few furry family members which can’t enjoy a nice warm toilet like us and still need their daily exercise. Especially after all the excitement around the holidays there will be a lot of energy that needs to be burned out. Combine the walks with a good after dinner digestion session for the humans and a nice long walk for your pooch.
4. Be careful with unwrapping presents
The best time of the year, month and day is of course the presents. Wrapping paper is flying about, your uncles’ new socks are lost, Christmas chocolates are being eaten …however your pooch will need to be kept an eye on. As at this time of the festivities we can very easily get distracted and forget about the dangers of a toy or candys falling into the paws of your pet. So make sure to either keep your pup in a separate room and let him join the festivities after everything has been cleaned up.
That’s enough advice giving from us.. Let’s not forget the holidays are for everyone to enjoy in the comfort of their own homes with their families and our pups play a big part of the festivities.
So, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Thank you from the whole team for being with us in our first year and if you haven’t been part of our crew it’s never too late to set it as a new year resolution!
